If you are thinking of purchasing a buzzzie button then we advise you to read this article before purchase. 


buzzzie buttons are powered by flic.io technology that use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity to connect the button to your phone. Each button has a maximum range of 150ft or 50m and your phone must be within this range in order for the button to work. Note that the range quoted is the maximum range, unobstructed by walls, furniture or other obstructions and your effective range may be less if there are obstructions between your phone and the button.


BLE requires that your phone supports Bluetooth 4.0 technology. 


For iOS users Apple iPhone 5s, 5c, 6, 7, 8 and 10 are supported.

For Android users, Android phones running a minimum of Android version 4.3.3 is required as well as being Bluetooth (LE) 4.0 capable. Samsung Galaxy S4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, Note 2 or greater are supported. Huawei P9, P10 and P20 also support BLE. 


Other android phones may support BLE. To determine if your device does support BLE, we recommend you download the BLE Checker App for Android from the Google Play Store  on to your mobile device.


Make sure your bluetooth is set to ON before running the app. If the app detects your device is compatible you will get the following screen

There is a limit on the amount of simultaneous BLE connections that can be made to a phone. Your device make and model may restrict these based on hardware limitations. However, most BLE enabled phones can support up to 8 simultaneously connected BLE devices at any one time.


This does not mean that you cannot purchase more than 8 buzzzie buttons, you can. However, only up to 8 can be connected at any one time. As your phone moves through your home, some buttons may disconnect when out of range freeing up a channel for another buzzzie button to connect. 


Also notes that if you have any other bluetooth connected device attached to your phone, such as a bluetooth speaker or headset these will take up a BLE channel thus reducing the amount of channels left for buzzzie buttons.


If your phone is off or out of range of buzzzie buttons, then when pressed they will be ineffective. 


We are working on an always on solution for the buttons that do not require pairing to your phone. However, this is not due for release until late 2019.
